Ortho House is developing an automatic knee joint that able to lock and unlock during the swing phase of the users gait cycle. This updated design features two pressure sensors, a magnetic switch and a one-way lock. The magnetic switch is used to limit the knee flexion whenever the pressure sensor in the heel reaches a maximum value, indicating that the leg is ready to bear weight. Once the weight shifts from the heel to the toe, the
magnetic switch releases allowing the joint to rotate freely in both directions.
